Our Second Children's Fishing
Competition and Celebration

Thanks to all who were able to help us out....if not for the sponsors and volunteers we would not have been able to pull it off. There were many many sponsors who really came through for us....we were able to pay out 8, $100 savings bonds 8, $75 savings bonds and 8, $50 Savings bonds this year.....next year we would love to do more.....Thank you Jan and Leon for working the phones and the street getting us the Sponsors needed to pay our the prizes for the children...

This year we had 268 children to register to fish with us and had a final count of 244 children to actually show up and fish....wow .....

We had the most volunteers ever this time around especially the men and women from the Sloop Point Volunteer Fire Department and Pender County Emergency Rescue and Services....these men and women were mostly found in the food area but you were also likely to see them roaming the entire pier and helping where ever needed.....Thank You Thank You Thank you....

I also want to reach out and Thank a few others personally....Pam who came over weeks before and asked how can I help.....and who stayed for hours helping me and even taking work home with her....and her daughters Janai and Shawna....these girls helped no matter the task....organizing, paperwork, certificates,signs.....and probably did things I don't know about......Thank you ladies......

and to Margie and Bruce....who show up every year with a smile and ask what job would you like me to do.....and stick it out till the end.......

This year we also added to our volunteers Cindy, Donnie, and Fred who kept things going at the food station .....

and Gary, Fritz,Kenny and James who kept things going at the games station....

Thank you to the guys who ran the weigh station again this year Charles and Bill....

Thank you Guys and Gal....Hope to have you back again next year....

I also want to thank the guys and gals who work with me though out the year....

Like Spoon, Betty, Kim, Lucy and the rest of the crew.....who have to deal with me while I try to figure out what and how we are going to do to pull it off....they help in lots of ways with ideas and opinions....and even the little things like cutting and numbering and not killing me when they cant stand to hear about the tournament no more....you guys are great and really do more than anyone sees....I do appreciate your help even when it doesn't look like I show it....it really takes all of us to make it work ....all the extra hours really pay off THANK YOU....
I hope you all had as much fun as we did....see you next year....
