Return to What's Biting

October 2009

10/4.....ok for the past couple of days during the daylight hours have been really slow but after dark the spots have been showing up in abundance .....most nights it has been pretty late before they show up .....we caught 2 kings yesterday one the day before and one the day before that.....today we have seen quite a few spanish.....so basically I guess it depends on what your wanting to catch there has been a little bit of everything out there......

10/7......Well I really wanted to update last night it was just to busy to get to it.....between all the people and ALL the PHONE CALLS(I'm really starting to dislike that phone)..... there never was any time to let you know anything.......the spots were biting really well.....sometimes they would slack off but not to worry .....they would start right back up again......I left them biting last night.......however when I came back today ....they were not here.....the only thing I saw this afternoon were spanish....but those were big ones also saw a few blues.....but no spots........They did land a king today .....weighted 20lb and they caught 4 yesterday ....the largest one was 34 lbs......now its evening....and still no spots except for the occasional one.......

10/8.....Summertime fish today....seeing spanish ....pompano...and flounder.....today......not much with the spots.....apparently they had a run about 2am last night for about half an hour......then just the one or two during the day.......also caught 3 kings so far today....you know they must be thick if Edwin and Billie and Wayne all caught one today.......Congrats to all 3 of them on a job well done.....Maybe we will see some spots late tonight......you can always call and I will let you know....
Those Trash fish are starting to show up....

10/11....The weekend has been great we have had it all and all of it did well......The spots started in on Friday night and bit on Saturday and Saturday night.....we had them on and off on Sunday.....the water cleared up on Sunday so we also saw spanish and blues....pompanos and flounder.....saw some mullet down in the surf area......sorry no kings....everything else did well....over all a real good weekend.....

10/14.....lots of blues and lots of rain..... Rain Rain go away......The wind has picked up and everyone has gone home.......here I sit and there are 4 people on the pier what's a girl to do......even if they were biting there's no one really out there to fish for them.......what to do what to do ....I know......last call.....no wait here come Bigun........I'm out see you tomorrow

10/15......What a difference a day makes....WE HAVE SPOTS.....and currently no rain and the sun is shinning and they are catching spots, pompano, flounder, and trout.....I will try to get some shots of coolers full after while......

Weekend looks to be good make plans and come on down.....see you when you get here.....

10/20.....The weekend really wasn't all that bad.....there were fish just not the fish the masses of people are looking for......saw plenty of blues and pompano....saw flounder and drum...

(Bill Lloyd with 6 flounder)

..just didn't see any spots.....and still not seeing any spots.....the days are nice and the nights are cold....the wind has finally switched from the NW to the SE so maybe something will finally start back out there......We are also seeing lots of lizardfish and blowfish and mullet are starting to show up.....so you see there is something for everyone....just not aot of spots yet.....

We are getting alot of calls about when the fish are going to start back or if we think they are gone.....Here is the best answer I can give you .....No I really don't think they are gone....I'm still getting reports that there are spots north of us....a NW wind is usually NOT in our favor....what we WANT is a NE wind.....If its PRETTY outside the fish don't usually bite....The NASTIER it is out the better the fish usually bite......and no matter what you might think or believe.....WE here at the pier CANNOT predict when the next run of spots will be through....Wish we could ....it would make things a little less stressfully for you and us if we could...BE PATIENT.........so keep calling..... and keep checking here ....and we WILL let you know as soon as we know....PROMISE....

10/24.....Sorry been a couple of days.....there was nothing to say till today......The SPOTS are BITING.....they have SHOWED up this morning around 8 am.....they are actually catching spots and mullet doing pretty decent too....so come on down....bring rain gear.....the wind is currently out of the South West at about 10-12.....spotty showeres....still warm out in the upper 70's......havent updated cause there wasnt really anything to tell you about....the Virginia Mullet have been showing up after dark.....most seem to be doing well at the end of the pier.......during the daytime we had been seeing blues and flounder.....the days have been hot and sunny......the nights cool and mild.......I Promised to let you know when they started......so come on down see you when you get here....I will try to get pictures.....

10/25....It was a good day yesterday and has been a good one so far today..... Im just gonna let the pictures tell the story.....I took a walk on the pier and this is what I saw....

Tomorrow looks to be just as good......come and get yours....

10/26.....There still biting....where are you?

10/27.......Hummmmmmmm.....va. mullet.....a few spots and trout....

10/28......SW wind.....NO....RUN of FISH......seeing a few.....not enough to brag about.....

10/29.........The wind is out of the NE......Spots started around 12:30-1pm today....dont know how long there here for nor do I know how long its going to last ....if you want them come on....It is 4:30pm as I type this here are a few shots I went out and took....you decide...

We might have a few clowns too.....oh no I mean Pompano ....

10/31......Happy Halloween..... Mullet are still biting.....

11/2.....Whats going on .....? Just because its November and the time has changed doesnt mean the fish have stopped!.......They are doing great with the Va. Mullet big ones too.....still seeing a handful of spots....but there is no one here WHY?

11/5.....Still seeing lots of Va. Mullet after dark during the day seeing a few flounder....most are small.....now Tuesday and Wednesday we were seeing spots durring the day and a few after dark......so they are still around.....come on down....

The end of the month is coming fast .....dont let it sneak up on you and miss out on your season passes for the 2010 fishing season....

11/8.....still seeing a few mullet after dark some nights are great others are just ok....had some small runs of spots wander through....still seeing flounder and trout and drum......had a few schools of false albacore swim through on Saturday and again today....The weather has been nice and by the looks and sounds of things the season is winding down....hearing more and more "see you in the spring".....You still have good fishing days ahead of you the days are warm and the nights are cool....and fish are still around......

11/11......Happy Veterans Day.....Oh my look at the rain....Early night...

11/12.....Its still raining......

11/13....Friday the 13th......Picking up a few......things are kinda quiet around here....

11/14......The crowds are gone but there are still a few fish around....they caught some va. mullet, spots, blues and black drum today.....even heard of a few flounder mixed in the bunch......we have only a couple weeks left before the 2009 fishing season is over....you should take advantage of the nicer days and come on out and join us.....you will probably catch enough for dinner.....just dont plan on inviting the neighbors......

Look who stopped by to say Hi.....Tim Kerley and famiy....His first trip out here since July.....Tim is doing better but still has some work ahead of him.....He plans to be fishing with us again next year....Please Keep him and his family in your thougbts and prayers......

11/15....Slow....Look I even caught Terry stocking the drink box...

11/17.....Lots of small trout no keepers.....seeing some blues and black drums.....most of those are small too.....there are still a few mullet around and a handful of spots....still hearing of blowfish....just getting to be that time of year.....stuff around just not many fisherman.....
